Batam, Indonesia – September 3, 2024 – Roll Group proudly announces the delivery of RollBarge 1, the latest addition to its growing fleet and their first barge in a ceremony held at the ASL Yard in Batam, Indonesia. The delivery took place in the presence of Gonnie van Seumeren, who named the barge, alongside her husband Frans van Seumeren, one of the founding partners of Roll Group.
During the ceremony, Roll Group’s CEO Peter Rondhuis expressed gratitude to the key partners Viva Energy, McDermott, ASL Yard and BRS Brokering for their commitment and dedication to the project. “Together, we have not only created a valuable new asset to our fleet, but also enhanced our portfolio with a solution that improves efficiency and makes a significant contribution to our environmental preservation targets.”
Innovative and versatile capabilities
RollBarge 1 is a versatile addition to the Roll Group fleet, capable of floating in and out of the company’s semi-submersible ships. The barge design offers the ability for beaching in shallow waters, enabling Roll Group to deliver high-value modules to remote areas and thereby eliminating the need for extensive dredging. This flexibility not only reduces costs for clients but also minimizes environmental impact, aligning with Roll Group’s commitment to sustainability.
Future growth and investment
Looking forward, Roll Group is further expanding its asset base in 2024 with a second Gantry portal crane with a lifting capacity in excess of 4,000 tons. This newbuild crane offers an innovative alternative to traditional large ringer cranes, promising a reduction in both operational time and carbon footprint by over 50%. This marks Roll Group’s second major lifting solution introduced within the past two years.
In addition, Roll Group will add two more deck carriers to its fleet in 2025 and has invested in an additional 300 axle lines, including both conventional trailers and Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs), with further expansions expected in the near future.
