Roll Group owns two types of lattice boom cranes, Mobile cranes and Crawler cranes. The main differences lie in their movement methods and their capacities.
A crawler is a crane mounted on an undercarriage with a set of Caterpillar tracks that provide stability and mobility Their main advantage is that they can move around on site and perform each lift with little set up, since the crane is stable on its tracks with no outriggers Caterpillar tracks are also far better at traversing soft ground without sinking, as they spread the weight out over a large area A crawler crane can therefore move around an unprepared job site with less risk of becoming immobilized in soft ground In addition, a crawler crane is capable of traveling while suspending a load.
The main disadvantage is they are large and extremely heavy, and cannot easily be moved from one job site to another without significant expense. Typically a large crawler crane must be disassembled and moved by trucks, rail cars or ships to its next location.
Roll Group owns several lattice boom crawler cranes. The LR11350 can be mounted in PowerBoom configuration, using two parallel booms gives a significant increase in lifting capacities.
