ROLLDOCK STAR being delivered by FSG Flensburg, Germany to ROLLDOCK SHIPPING
On the 18th of December the new build ROLLDOCK STAR has been delivered by FSG in Germany to her owners Rolldock in the Netherlands. RollDock is extremely pleased with their high quality built, next generation semi-submersible heavy lift ro-ro vessel.
RollDock already operates two similar vessels, being ROLLDOCK SUN and ROLLDOCK SEA. Together with the existing vessels and the FSG quality built vessel they will be able to cope with the demands of worldwide clients. The vessel will fly the Dutch flag with homeport Rotterdam.
ROLLDOCK STAR is equipped with two Liebherr heavy lift cranes of 350 tons, a heavy duty ro-ro ramp with capacity up to 4000 tons weight, at various quay levels. She is able to submerge for loading cargoes such as dredgers, submarines, naval craft. The vessel’s dock hold is box shaped and measures 119,44 m x 19,40 m enabling large objects to be accommodated on board. Her propulsion consists of 2 MAK 9M32 engines with total installed power of 9000 kW giving a speed of about 17 knots. Operational redundancy is warranted by the fact that the vessel has twin engines, propeller shafts and rudders. Thanks to her shallow draft of maximum 5,67 m fully loaded and maneuverability she is able to call at remote ports with little water depth to load or discharge her cargoes.
The ROLLDOCK STAR will start working immediately. Her first trip will start in Amsterdam were she will load a floating pavilion with destination Gibraltar. After delivering of the floating pavilion in Gibraltar the ROLLDOCK STAR will load the river cruise vessel ‘River Royale’ in Fos, and will ship this vessel to Bordeaux. The third contract signed is for shipping a special, large sized floating object from the Baltic to the Far East.
Sister vessel expected
RollDock is expecting a fourth vessel in 2014. This will be, the ROLLDOCK STORM and is expected to be delivered by FSG to ROLLDOCK SHIPPING in May 2014.
